Top 20 Goals At The Liberty – No 3

In the fanzine this term we have been counting down the top 20 goals at the Liberty to mark a decade at our current home. Over the next few weeks we will countdown one per day accompanied with a video of the scorer where possible. At three is probably the most famous goal in Liberty history.

3. Darren Pratley v Nottingham Forest, May 2011

For the moment, the celebrations and the importance of goal this one is very special and that’s before we even mention the goal itself! There were only seconds left in the Play-Off semi-final second leg when Pratley found himself by the halfway line with an open goal to aim at as the visitors had thrown everything at us looking for the equaliser. The box to box midfielder took an audacious shot from close to the dugout and the entire ground held its breath as we waited to see if it would cross the line and once it did the entire stadium let out the biggest roar I’ve ever heard, while Brendan Rodgers legged it down the touch line like Dai Greene! A memorable night capped by that fantastic goal.
