Opposition view – Liverpool

We speak to Peter Phillips from The Kop Table podcast ahead of the Swans’ trip to Anfield…

How’s your season been so far?

Our Season has gone pretty well up to now with our excellent league form were we are the top goalscorers in the league and a semi final to come next week this will be a very important week in our season starting with Swansea at Anfield

Who have been your star performers?

On of our best players has been Sadio Mane but we will miss him for this game as he is at the AFCON tournament but Adam Lallana and Phil Coutinho have been excellent and will be looking to add to their goal tally on Saturday.

You’re currently seven points off Chelsea. Is the title the target or would you be happy with top four?

Obviously we would love to be crowned champions in May but we have to just keep going and keep winning to keep the pressure on Chelsea but if it turns out we get top 4 then I think that will be counted as a successful season but ideally we want the big one but so do many other teams so it will be a fight to the end of the season I think.

Do you expect to do any transfer business this month?

I think Klopp has said our main transfer business will be done in the Summer so I only expect outgoings in this window with Sakho and Illori likely to leave along with a couple of youngsters out on loans.

What do you make of Swansea this season?

Swansea have been chopping and changing their managers so often I can`t put a finger on how they have played but now Paul Clement is on board I expect after a couple of months when he gets his ideas across things will look a lot healthier for Swansea.

Predict the score and where both teams will finish?

I predict a closer game than many others expect with a 2-0 win for Liverpool and I expect Liverpool to be in the top 3 but I can`t predict exactly which position at this moment in time. I think Swansea may just survive if after working with the squad of players Paul Clement has they may make a big push for survival come the end of March or early April.

Thanks to Steven for joining us on our LFC podcast The Kop Table this week it was much appreciated.
