Top 20 Goals At The Liberty – No 7

In the fanzine this term we have been counting down the top 20 goals at the Liberty to mark a decade at our current home. Over the next few weeks we will countdown one per day accompanied with a video of the scorer where possible. At number seven is a striker who despite playing just twelve games for the club made a huge impact.

7. Fabio Borini v Norwich, April 2011

The Italian netted six times during his brief loan spell at the back end of the 2010/1 campaign. The pick of them was undoubtedly this stunning strike that sent us on our way to victory over promotion rivals Norwich. A free kick was won 25 yards out in the opening few minutes and Borini stepped up to take it. He showed what he learnt from Didier Drogba during his time at Chelsea by striking the ball high into the air only for it to dip before entering the roof of the net. I would describe this as the best free kick I’ve ever seen by a Swansea City player. What a strike!
