Top 20 Goals at the Liberty – No 20

In the fanzine this term we have been counting down the top 20 goals at the Liberty to mark a decade at our current home. Over the next few weeks we will countdown one per day accompanied with a video of the striker where possible. First up is number twenty which was scored by a real fans favourite.

20. Alan Tate vs. Preston, January 2009

When you’re already 3-0 down and then Alan Tate makes it four you know it really isn’t your night. As much as we all love Tatey he’s not renown for scoring goals but this was a bit of a worldie to say the least. He found himself on the far left of the box late on in this game and with us in a commanding position he decided to take the shot on and curled the ball into the opposite corner to round off a wonderful night. He did then cost us a goal by playing a Preston player onside a few minutes later as if he knew that goal would cost Cardiff a Play-Off place. He was probably chuffed!
