How did they get on? Goalkeepers

Now the season is over let’s have a look at how each individual member of the squad performed. Over the next few days we will bring you the defenders, midfielders and strikers but today we start with the men between the sticks. We have used the star rating system of

Lukasz Fabianski

The “Big Pole in the goal” has been a revelation since arriving at the Liberty on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer. With a total of thirteen clean sheets he has been a notable step up in class from Michel Vorm and his strongest attribute has to be the commanding of his area. Every time he decides to claim across you are left in no doubt he will make it his and this has reassured his defenders no one. He’s also endured himself into the hearts of the Jack Army with his passion there for all to see. Let’s hope we see more of the same in 2015/6.

Rating

Best moment – Keeping a clean sheet on his return to Arsenal

Worst moment – Letting the ball slip through his fingers in the Cup at Blackburn for their third goal

Gerhard Tremmel

I’ll keep this one brief as I don’t want to stick the boot in too much but the German has been found wanting in his limited appearances. All of those games have been in the cups bar Spurs in the league and at Liverpool in the League Cup his calamitous failure to take a cross resulted in the hosts winner and across the Mersey at Tranmere in the FA Cup he also looked very shaky. He’s been a good number two for us since we won promotion but his time is now up. He’s no longer good enough to be at the club and a reinforcement is needed over the summer to replace him.

Rating

Best Moment – Being part of the club’s first ever win over Everton

Worst Moment – The missed cross at Anfield
