Thanks to Peter Phillips from the Kop Table podcast for answering our questions for this week’s opposition view.
How’s your season been so far?
Apart from the blip we had against Burnley we have had a good start to the season with very good away wins at Arsenal and Chelsea. The players are playing with freedom and confidence in a style that is very pleasing on the eye.
You made numerous signings over the summer, were you happy with your business overall?
Yes I’m very happy with our transfer business in the summer. Mane had been a revelation, Wijnaldum has brought a new dimension to the midfield and Klavan and Matip have done very well with the latter making a real impression on the Liverpool fans. Many fans wanted a left back but James Milner is proving to be a solid player there for us.
What are your aims and expectations this term?
I both hope and expect us to be challenging in the top four. If we can keep our players fit and healthy with no European football we have all the tools to push for honours come the end of May in my opinion.
Jurgen Klopp seems like a real fans favourite, what is it about the German that’s so special?
The man oozes style and charisma and when he talks people listen. He is an elite manager who knows the game inside out, is loved by his players and gets the best out of them with his man management and personality skills which are second to none. We are very happy to have him and I believe his stint as LFC manager will go down in history as a very memorable one.
Anfield has recently opened its new main stand, has that made a difference to the atmosphere at the ground?
It’s certainly made a difference, the new main stand is nothing short of humongous!! It’s added noise, atmosphere and is very daunting for opposition teams coming to Anfield. The stadium is an absolute joy to go to and to play there must be underscribable.
What do you make of Swansea and which players if any do you fear?
I have always thought Sigurdson is a very good player who is great at set pieces and who had a very good eye for goal. Lorente is a new player who are defenders are going to have an aireal battle with and one to keep a close eye on.
Predict the score and where both teams will finish?
I think with Liverpool playing the way they are I believe it will be a 1-3 scoreline in a well fought contest. I believe Liverpool will finish in one of the top 4 positions and Swansea will finish around 11th after pushing on after Xmas.
