In the fanzine this term we have been counting down the top 20 goals at the Liberty to mark a decade at our current home. Over the next few weeks we will countdown one per day accompanied with a video of the goal where possible. Today’s goal was scored by a player who didn’t find the net often but this was a cracker
No 13 – Mark Gower v Norwich, April 2011
The ex Southend wide man was a regular goal scorer from midfield at his previous club which prompted Roberto Martinez to sign him to replace Andy Robinson. He didn’t manage to replicate that success at the Liberty but he did score this magnificent goal in a victory over Norwich. Standing on the edge of the box the ball came towards him and he met it with venom as it buried itself in the bottom right hand corner to help seal a crucial win in the promotion run in. By far the best of his three Swansea City goals.
